RWUS Offers Thanksgiving for God’s Mercy and Divine Intervention in Rivers State

… Women reaffirm faith, unity, and support for peace and progress in Rivers State

Rivers Women Unite For SIM (RWUS) an assemblage of women volunteers committed to praying for peace, unity and progress of Rivers State, on Thursday convened a solemn prayer and thanksgiving service in Opobo/Nkoro, offering collective gratitude to God for His divine intervention and continued sovereignty over the affairs of Rivers State. The service, held at St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Opobo, brought together women from across the state in an atmosphere of deep reflection, worship, and intercession. Anchored on the theme “God Is In Control,” the gathering reaffirmed the group’s unwavering belief that despite the challenges confronting the state, God’s authority remains supreme and unshaken.

A statement signed by the Communications Officer of the group, Comr. Glory N. Sunday states that the prayer session featured powerful sermon by the Guest Minister, Pastor Emmanuel Onyia Oarhe, who spoke extensively on God’s omniscience and omnipotence. He emphasized that leadership is divinely ordained and urged the women to remain steadfast in their support for the current administration. Pastor Onyia assured the gathering that no plan of the wicked can prevail against the life and leadership of the Governor of Rivers State, Sir Siminalayi Fubara GSSRS, noting that peace and sustainable progress are inevitable when people place their trust in God rather than succumb to political distractions. He further described the unity of women as a critical spiritual force for the stability and development of the state.

The service also included solemn intercessory prayers for Rivers State, with representatives from all 23 Local Government Areas present. Special prayers were offered for divine wisdom, strength, and guidance for the Governor and his administration. A symbolic blessing of water and salt was conducted as part of the spiritual activities, serving as an expression of faith, hope, and collective dependence on God.

The thanksgiving service concluded on a high note of praise and gratitude, led by the Convener of RWUS, Amaopuorubo Sotonye Toby Fulton. Drawing inspiration from Isaiah 41:10, participants reaffirmed their trust in God’s unfailing mercy, support and sustaining power. The gathering stood as a profound reminder that true peace does not come from having all the answers, but from knowing who is in control—affirming once again that God reigns supreme.###
